We Take Our 6-Month-Old Clydesdale Swimming!

Callie is only 6 months old, and today she gets to experience something completely new—her first swim in the river! And she isn’t the only ...one trying something for the first time. Her mama, Beauty, is also taking her first swim!

We weren't sure what Callie would think about the water… but surprisingly, she doesn't hesitate. She just jumps right in! 😲

But there’s one big question…

Can this baby Clydesdale actually swim?

Callie is the first foal born to our Clydesdale stallion Oliver and our beautiful black Clydesdale mare Beauty. Oliver has always loved the water, so we were curious to see if his daughter would inherit some of that same confidence around the river.

Here at Homestead Horsemanship, we share our everyday life raising, training, and caring for our horses—including our Missouri Fox Trotters, Clydesdales, foals, mini horses, and donkeys. We love bringing you along for the exciting moments, the unexpected moments, and all the little adventures that happen here on our homestead.

They Escaped! Runaway Horses!

Sometimes you just have to stop what you’re doing and share the horses!

We captured our horse herd running, playing, and galloping through the pasture, and even though the video ...quality isn’t perfect, we couldn’t resist sharing it. There’s just something about watching a whole herd of horses let loose and enjoy themselves that never gets old!

But the very next day, things took a VERY different turn… our entire horse herd escaped! 😳 Thankfully, we were able to get everyone back home safe and sound, but it definitely made for an unexpected day here at the homestead.

We also have another peek at our Clydesdale stallion Oliver and an update on what’s been happening with him behind the scenes. Oliver is moving from the pasture barn back to his dry lot, so we’ll give you a little look at how that transition is going.

This is just a real-life update from Homestead Horsemanship—horses running free, unexpected surprises, and everything happening behind the scenes with our herd. ❤️

How BIG Has Our Clydesdale Filly Gotten in 6 Months?! 😱

Champ Is Hurt Again… So We Prayed

Champ is hurt AGAIN… and this time, it happened just days before one of the biggest Missouri Fox Trotter shows of the year. 💔🐴

We took our champion stallion, Champ, to ...the vet for what should have been a simple visit to get his traveling papers for the Fall Show & Celebration. But somehow, Champ managed to cut his foot while he was there, and he ended up needing STITCHES.

After everything Champ has been through this year and all the times he has managed to hurt himself, we couldn't help but think, “Not again…”

We have been looking forward to this show, and now we're facing another unexpected setback just days before we are supposed to leave.

But this video isn't just about an injury.

We talk a lot about faith, prayer, healing, and believing. Sometimes things don't go the way we planned, and all we can do is put it in God's hands, pray for healing, and believe that there is still a way forward.

So now we're praying for Champ, hoping for healing, and believing that if he is meant to be at this show, he'll get there.

Will Champ heal in time? Will our champion stallion be able to make it to the Fall Show & Celebration?
