Jessie
Jessie, affectionately known around the farm as “Grand Gesture,” is more than just one of our mares — she is one of the cornerstones of our homestead legacy. Though she officially joined our family in 2022, her story and spirit had already intertwined with ours long before she set foot on our soil. In 2020, we took our beloved mare Patty to be bred to the legendary stallion Sunrises Golden Image — a sire known for producing excellence in both bloodline and character.

While visiting Image’s farm, a dark liver chestnut mare grazing in the distance caught our eye. There was something familiar, something special about her. When we inquired, we were stunned to learn she was a full sister to our cherished mare, Lucky. Her name was Jessie — and though she wasn’t for sale, she had already made her way into our hearts.
Before leaving, we offered a quiet prayer over Jessie — asking that if she was ever meant to be part of our lives, that the opportunity would come in the right time and bring joy, purpose, and blessing to our family. At the time, we assumed it was a far-off dream.
But just a few months later, we received a surprise phone call and a photo of Jessie’s newborn bay filly — a breathtaking little girl sired by Red Dung It. The owners, remembering our deep interest, asked if we wanted her. Of course, we said yes — and that’s how our sweet Lady came to live with us.
Still, Jessie remained in our thoughts. A quiet knowing lingered — that she might someday be with us. And then, just a year later, we received another call that would change everything.
The owners had made a major life decision to sell their herd and wanted us to have Jessie — not only Jessie, but Sunrises Golden Image, another cherished mare, and Jessie’s brand-new foal, sired by Image himself. Our hearts raced with excitement and disbelief. Owning Image — a stallion we had admired for years — had never even been on our radar. And Jessie, Lucky’s full sister, coming home? It felt destined.
There was a cost, of course — and sacrifices had to be made to bring them all home. But we knew this was something we were meant to do, and we made it happen. There’s even a video on our YouTube channel of the day we picked them up — including the unforgettable moment of putting Jessie’s tiny newborn colt in the truck cab with us to keep him safe.
That colt? He’s grown into our magnificent young stallion, Champ.
Since then, Jessie has settled into her forever home with us, gracing our pastures and our lives with her beauty, grace, and incredible presence. She now lives alongside her two daughters, Lady and Chantilly, her son Champ, her sister Lucky, and her grand-niece Happy — a true family legacy.
Jessie is more than a mare. She’s a prayer answered, a dream realized, and a daily reminder of the goodness that finds us when we stay open to possibility.
