Rosa’s Chantilly Lace
Chantilly has quickly become one of our absolute favorites on the homestead. She’s truly something special — not only because she was born and raised right here, but because she’s the perfect blend of her parents’ very best traits. Her sire is our handsome herd stallion, Bob (Awe Looky Here Now), and her dam is our beloved mare Jessie (Grand Gesture). She is also related to a lot of horses on our homestead as you can see above in her lineage.

Long before Chantilly was born, she already had a name waiting for her. Emeri declared, “If Jessie has a girl, and it’s a palomino with a blaze and stockings, her name will be Chantilly Lace!” Sure enough, that’s exactly what we got — well, almost. Chantilly only has one stocking, but we think it makes her even more perfectly unique.
Chantilly made her grand debut on the homestead in May 2024, and she wasted no time setting a record — tipping the scales at an impressive 125 pounds at birth! She looked like she was already two weeks old from the moment she arrived, and within just 24 hours, this big, healthy filly was out in the pasture running alongside her mama.
Now, at a year old, Chantilly remains one of our largest yearlings, already standing over 14 hands tall. She’s a soft, golden palomino with striking gaited dapples that shimmer in the sunlight. JR likes to joke that she’s “brindle” — not really a thing in horses, of course — but her one-of-a-kind coloring certainly gives her that look!
Beyond her beauty, what truly sets Chantilly apart is her gentle spirit. She’s one of the sweetest, most naturally kind-hearted horses we’ve ever raised. Without a single day of formal training, she’s calm, affectionate, and loves connecting with people — it’s just part of who she is.
Watching Chantilly grow has been an absolute joy, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. Our plan is to keep her here on the farm, start her training for trails and shows, and, if all goes as hoped, see her make her debut in the show ring in 2027.
We’ll be sure to share updates as Chantilly’s story continues — because something tells us, this sweet girl’s journey is only just beginning.
